We also look to support local communities everywhere we do business. We are a community-based business with shops rooted in the communities we serve.
Our customers and staff live in and around these communities so we make it our business to contribute to their wellbeing in every way we can.
From 2015, we will be formalising our support for local projects by introducing a Community Finance Fund. Staff from every one of our 230+ stores will be able to nominate local projects for support from the fund. A panel of staff representatives from across the country will decide which projects to support and how much funding to allocate. Our Community Finance Fund helps us maintain a close link between the business and our customers; and ensure that our branch operations remain rooted in the communities they serve.
The Money Shop Lisburn Presents a total of £2,000 to Local Charities to Celebrate Its Refresh
To celebrate The Money Shop’s complete refresh of its store in Lisburn back in July, the store has presented donations to three local charities, Shopmobility Lisburn, Lisburn 2gether Special Olympics Club and Community Circus Lisburn, following votes made by customers.
Following the store re-opening in a new location, customers – that visited during the months of August and September – had the opportunity to pick their preferred charity out of a shortlist of three, chosen by store staff. The charity with the most votes – Lisburn 2gether Special Olympics Club – received a £1,000 donation from The Money Shop in Lisburn, with both runners up – Shopmobility Lisburn and Community Circus Lisburn – receiving £500 each.
Representatives from each charity attended a specially organised event on Wednesday 5th October to collect their cheques, which were presented by Stuart Howard, CEO of The Money Shop.
Dollar UK is proud to sponsor Swindon Supermarine Football Club
Dollar UK has been a proud sponsor of Swindon Supermarine FC since 2014. As one of the club’s stand sponsors, The Money Shop’s branding appears on several billboards at their Webbswood Stadium.
The team was founded in 1948 by World War Two Heroes who produced the Supermarine Spitfire at the Vickers Aircraft Factory in Swindon. It is a proud legacy the Swindon Supermarine Football Club is honoured to shoulder and Dollar Financial is privileged to support.
In part through Dollar UK’s sponsorship, the club has moved forward with ground improvements, including the design and planning application for a new community room to serve the surrounding area, which has just recently been granted planning approval! Local groups will be able to use the improved facilities at the club, including local disabled groups who will benefit from this free of charge.
Swindon Supermarine has long offered innovative facilities to the local community, including the Swindome at Supermarine, the first all-purpose indoor football facility in Swindon – with a state of the art air dome that covers 3G artificial pitches and is available for public use.
Swindon Supermarine FC is made up of semi-professional players and competes in the Southern League, but in November 2010, the club made national headlines by reaching the second round of the FA cup!
